REPORT: AEW Stars Pushed For Released WWE Tag Team To Join The Company

Joe and Mark Coffey, collectively known as Gallus, are reportedly set to make their debuts for MLW in the near future. According to a new report from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, the duo is expected to arrive in MLW soon, marking their first major move since leaving WWE.

While their destination appears to be MLW, there was reportedly significant interest in bringing the Scottish team to AEW. The report states that a number of talent backstage in AEW were pushing for the duo to appear for the promotion late last year. Despite this support from the locker room, a move to AEW did not materialize, and the brothers are now poised to join the MLW roster.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful asked about their contractual status with MLW. It was not confirmed that they have officially signed contracts with the promotion as of yet, but their debut seems to be the current direction. This move comes after a period of free agency following their departure from the world’s largest wrestling promotion.

Gallus was released from WWE back in May 2025. Their exit came as a surprise to some, as the report notes that they were planned to be featured on the WWE main roster at one point before their release. The team had established themselves as a hard-hitting force during their time in the company.

Making a name for themselves in the NXT UK brand, Gallus became the longest-reigning NXT UK Tag Team Champions in history. Their dominance continued when they moved to the United States to join the NXT brand. During their tenure in NXT, they captured the NXT Tag Team Championships, engaging in physical feuds with teams like The Creed Brothers, Pretty Deadly, and The Family.

The faction originally included Wolfgang, who often teamed with Mark Coffey while Joe Coffey pursued singles glory, including challenges for the NXT UK Championship against Gunther. The group was known for their “Gallus Boys on Top” catchphrase and their rugged, brawling style that set them apart from more high-flying teams.
