According to a new report, CMLL star and lucha libre sensation Hechicero may now be officially signed to All Elite Wrestling. The deal would reportedly allow him to continue working for the Mexican promotion as well.
Report: Hechicero Signs Dual AEW/CMLL Contract
The story was first reported by a Reddit user who has broken news in the past and was later corroborated by lucha libre insider Luchablog. The report states that the deal is believed to be a dual contract with both AEW and CMLL. The signing was originally set to be made official around the time of AEW Grand Slam Mexico but was held up for unknown reasons.
A ‘Collaborative’ Partnership
The news aligns with recent comments from AEW President Tony Khan, who stated he would never “go behind CMLL’s back and take a wrestler from them.” Khan noted that any such deal would be “collaborative,” similar to the agreement for Konosuke Takeshita. Hechicero has been a regular presence on AEW programming since late May, appearing as a member of the Don Callis Family.
Hechicero’s reported signing would be the latest major development in the growing partnership between AEW and CMLL. The collaboration has seen numerous CMLL stars appear on AEW programming, including a recent match at AEW Grand Slam: Mexico where MJF defeated CMLL star Místico. A formal dual contract for a top star like Hechicero would mark the deepest level of talent sharing between the two companies to date.
