The future of one of AEW’s original tag teams, Private Party, is reportedly uncertain as their contracts with the promotion are set to expire.
Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen were one of the first tag teams signed by AEW in 2019 and made an immediate impact by defeating The Young Bucks in a major upset on the premiere episode of AEW Dynamite. The duo went on to become AEW World Tag Team Champions.
The team’s momentum was halted when Marq Quen was sidelined for over a year with a significant injury in late 2022. He made his return in early 2024, reuniting with Kassidy. Since then, Private Party has been featured more frequently on Ring of Honor programming than on AEW’s flagship shows.
According to a report in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the team’s tenure with the company may be nearing its end. Dave Meltzer wrote: “Private Party’s deals are up very soon.”
As one of the foundational teams of AEW’s tag division, it will be interesting to see if they stay or go.
