REPORT: Ricochet’s MS Tweet Apology Was His Own Decision, AEW Did Not Force It

AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery did not force Ricochet to apologize for his MS tweet, with the apology coming entirely of his own after a friend encouraged him to delete the original post, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio.

Ricochet drew widespread criticism after telling a fan on X who criticized his acting skills that he was glad they had multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. He initially defended himself and retweeted comments supporting his actions before eventually removing the post and issuing an apology.

Ricochet issued his apology one day after the original post. “I took out my hatred for the IWC on Sandi, and inadvertently, others who are affected by MS,” Ricochet wrote. “She didn’t deserve it and for that, I sincerely apologize. Moving forward, I’ll do better.”

Meltzer reported that the chain of events leading to the apology was driven by a personal intervention rather than any pressure from AEW. “What ended up happening was one of his friends called him and said, you really should take the tweet down,” Meltzer said. “So he took the tweet down, and upon thinking about it, he then apologised. Nobody forced this apology or anything like that. He decided to apologise, and he did.”

Meltzer also noted that Ricochet “did not get anything negative from AEW” about the tweet. Fightful reported that AEW officials did tell Ricochet after the apology that it was the right thing to do, but the decision to apologize had already been made independently.

Ricochet’s partner, Samantha Irvin, deactivated her social media account following the incident. Meltzer said she did so because of the volume and severity of messages she was receiving. “She decided to deactivate her account because she was starting to get death threats. Not starting, but the messages were even more vile,” Meltzer said.

Despite the apology, Ricochet did not appear on the post-Revolution edition of Dynamite and was not mentioned on the show. He also did not work the Collision Slam Dunk tapings on Wednesday night in Fresno, California. Check out the spoilers here.

Ricochet has been part of AEW since All In 2024 and served as the inaugural AEW National Champion before losing the title at AEW Revolution to Jack Perry in the Blackjack Battle Royal.
