REPORT: TNA Open To Moving To Wednesday Nights To Go Head-To-Head With AEW Dynamite

The ongoing negotiations for TNA Wrestling’s new US media rights deal have intensified, with new reports suggesting that a move to The CW is a legitimate possibility. The report noted that TNA is open to moving its weekly show to Wednesday nights to go head-to-head with AEW Dynamite.

TNA’s Potential Move To The CW Network

In a new report from The Takedown on SI, multiple independent sources have confirmed that there have been discussions about TNA moving to a WWE-associated network. The report states that The CW’s interest in the promotion is “legitimate,” and that some “WWE stakeholders would like TNA to be a part of the network.”

The CW currently serves as the broadcast home for WWE’s NXT brand on Tuesday nights. When asked directly about these rumors, TNA President Carlos Silva did not deny them, but acknowledged that negotiations were ongoing and no deals had been completed.

A Head-To-Head Clash With AEW Dynamite

TNA is “open to shifting from Thursday to Wednesday nights to go head-to-head with AEW Dynamite.” Silva told The Takedown that any potential move would be about what is in the “best interests” of TNA, not about competition. However, this comes amidst a separate report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, who claimed that WWE wants to make TNA the No. 2 promotion in the business” as they have a working agreement with TNA.

TNA President Carlos Silva noted that the recent major media rights deals for WWE and UFC have changed the playing field and led to more conversations for TNA. While he had previously hoped for a deal to be done by Bound for Glory in October, he now indicates that more meetings will take place this month with “positive momentum” in the negotiations.
