A new report from Fightful Select has provided an update on the status of former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, revealing that he is not planned for the upcoming All Out pay-per-view. The report states that his on-screen injury angle was designed to write him off of television for a pre-planned trip to Japan.
The report notes that the plan for Omega to take time off around this time of year has been in place for “quite a while.” His absence is not a result of a new injury, though it has been previously reported that he has been wrestling through pain for some time.
The storyline explanation for his absence took place on last night’s Dynamite. After the main event, Kyle Fletcher attacked Omega, driving him through a table with a brainbuster. Omega was then stretchered out of the arena. This angle was designed to “put over Fletcher” while also providing a reason for Omega’s hiatus. Here is the current card:
Adam Copeland & Christian Cage vs. FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler)
TBS Champion Mercedes Mone vs. Riho
The Hurt Syndicate (Shelton Benjamin, MVP & Bobby Lashley) vs. Ricochet and the Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona)
