There is some heat on Sammy Guevara after he pulled out of last week’s Impact Wrestling tapings.
As many of you saw on last Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, Guevara indicated that he would be taking time away from AEW after he quit Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle faction. Slam Wrestling reports that Guevara was supposed to then fly to Nashville for the Impact Wrestling tapings. The idea to have Guevara work on Impact was said to be Jericho’s idea and then Tony Khan presented the idea to Impact Wrestling.
On the day before Impact was set to shoot the angle, Impact received a message from Guevara that was critical of the creative direction and then Impact contacted Tony Khan. Jericho then reportedly contacted Impact’s Executive Director Don Callis about banning Guevara from Impact’s studios, where their TV shows are taped.
Guevara eventually landed in Nashville but by that time, he received a message from Jericho that advised him to go back home and not to go to the Impact TV studio.
There was talk of concern about the AEW-Impact Wrestling relationship being fractured because of this but we are told that is not the case and everything is fine between them. There’s no word yet on where things stand with Guevara and AEW.
