Saraya: I May Not Be There To Be Able To Have A Match With Mercedes Mone

Even though Mercedes Mone and Saraya are both under contract with AEW, the promotion has yet to book the match.

Mone was labeled an “unsafe worker” following a WWE live event in December 2017, during which she was working a match with Saraya. During the six-woman tag team match, Mone hit Saraya in the neck, and the match was stopped because Saraya was hurt.

This was a year after Saraya had been sidelined with a neck injury. Saraya was medically retired due to spinal stenosis, only to be cleared and returned to in-ring action in 2022. While speaking with Justin Dhillon on Casual Conversations with The Classic, Saraya was asked about the potential match in AEW.

“I don’t know. I mean, we both wanted to, so we were just waiting for that trigger to be pulled. But I think she has other people that she has to wrestle for right now, so I don’t know when that time would be. Unfortunately, I may not be there to be able to do that with her,” she said. “It should have happened a while ago, but it is what it is. We wanted it, but it hasn’t been the right time, I guess.”

Saraya’s contract with AEW expires later this year.
