Scorpio Sky: “I Thought I Was Never Going Back To AEW”

Scorpio Sky, who returned to AEW programming earlier this month after a long absence, has opened up about his comeback. On his podcast, Sky revealed that he was surprised by the positive online reaction and admitted there was a time he thought his tenure with the company was over.

Sky ‘Surprised’ By Positive Fan Reaction

Speaking on his Creating Character podcast, Scorpio Sky discussed his return on the July 5th episode of AEW Collision. He noted that he was taken aback by the overwhelmingly positive reception from the online wrestling community.

“I was surprised at how well it was received online. Sometimes, the internet wrestling community can be very stiff,” Sky said. “On [Twitter/X]… the AEW audience that is, they’re not always very happy to see me… it seems the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. That actually caught me off guard.”

Sky, whose last match before his return was in September 2023, also revealed that he was uncertain about his future with the company during his long hiatus.

“To be completely honest with you, there was a time where I thought I was never going back to AEW. It just felt like things were heading in that direction,” he admitted. “That’s not what I wanted, and fortunately, it’s not what they wanted. We worked it out. I’m really happy to be back.”

Since his return victory over Max Caster, AEW has aired vignettes on Collision building up his new “Sky Flight Team” faction, which includes veteran Christopher Daniels and the team of Top Flight. While the group does not yet have a match scheduled for this Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision, it is expected they will be in action soon as they look to establish themselves in the tag team and trios divisions.
