In 2019 when AEW was launched by Tony Khan, several wrestlers, including Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, Hangman Page, Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, and others, took a chance on the promotion that didn’t even have a guaranteed television deal.
Since then, the promotion has continued to grow at a rapid pace. Over time, AEW has brought in a lot of talent, and because of that, not everyone can stay in the promotion as there is a budget in place.
Leva Bates was among those stars to join the promotion in its inaugural year, where she wrestled before taking on duties behind the scenes. She had an office role, helped with Public Relations, ran the makeup and wardrobe departments, and co-running the interactive ‘Heels’ club.’
As previously reported, Bates confirmed her departure from the promotion this week.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that “there were a number of people sad with this news as she was very well-liked.”
While it’s unclear what is next for Bates in the wrestling business, she is clearly talented and skillful for any promotion that signs her.
