AEW further built up the feud between Cody Rhodes and Shawn Spears at a Capital City Championship Combat (C4) Wrestling show.
On Friday, the promotion held their Fighting Back 9 event in Ottawa, which is an annual event that sees the proceeds go to the Canadian Cancer Society.
At the show, Rhodes & MJF teamed up to defeat Tabarnak De Team (Mathieu St-Jacques & Thomas Dubois). Following the match, Spears made a surprise appearance by attacking MJF and Rhodes. Before Spears could hit him with a chair shot, MJF made the save.
Rhodes went for the Cross Rhodes, but Spears was able to get out of the ring.

Spears and Rhodes are slated to meet at the AEW All Out pay-per-view that will take place on Saturday, August 31st at the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL and is already sold out.
