As noted, this week’s episode of Dynamite saw Fenix work a first-round match against Penta El Zero M. Fenix jumped up and hit a twisting head scissors on Penta, but when he did, he landed badly on his neck and shoulder.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Penta El Zero M [fka Pentagon] will replace his brother in the second round match against Kenny Omega during the second round of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament. Next week’s AEW Dynamite was taped on Thursday.
Meltzer wrote, “I believe Penta wrestled because of the Fenix injury.”
The report goes onto state that Fenix told his friends he “was okay” but AEW management decided to pull him out of the match. The reason for that was a precautionary measure.
Meltzer shared the belief that the promotion can always do a regular Omega vs. Fenix or “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Fenix match after its Full Gear PPV event.
