Swerve Strickland Praises AEW’s Backstage Growth: “Everybody Stepped Up”

AEW star Swerve Strickland has high praise for the company’s backstage team, stating in a new interview that everyone from marketing to production has “stepped up so much” over the past year.

Swerve Strickland Praises The AEW Team

Speaking with Gold Belt Media at San Diego Comic-Con, Swerve discussed his recent shoe collaboration with Reebok. He made it clear that the deal was set up entirely by AEW, using it as an example of the company’s growth behind the scenes.

“Dude, that wasn’t me at all,” Strickland said. “That was just an AEW thing. I really feel like over the last year, All Elite Wrestling, the marketing department, the social team, everything has just stepped up so much tenfold.”

It’s Not Just The In-Ring Product

Swerve continued, noting that the growth has been company-wide, not just what fans see on television. “Not just in the ring, not just the product you see on TV… I feel like everybody behind the scenes, from top to bottom, like the camera work, the production, like everybody stepped up so much,” he stated. He noted that his collaboration with Reebok and Allen Iverson was AEW’s way of taking things to “another notch” after the success of The Young Bucks’ shoe deal.

This coming Sunday, August 24, at the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view, Swerve Strickland is scheduled to challenge Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Unified Championship in one of the main events of the show.
