Swerve Strickland Reacts To Storyline AEW Fine After Kenny Omega Attack

Swerve Strickland has taken to social media following his show-closing angle on AEW Dynamite, where he secured a victory over Kenny Omega before launching a violent post-match assault. On the February 18 episode of Dynamite, held in Sacramento, California, Strickland defeated Omega in their first-ever singles encounter. After the bell, the former AEW World Champion refused to end his aggression, continuing to attack a defenseless Omega. The situation escalated when Strickland delivered a Vertebreaker to Omega through the announcer’s table as the broadcast prepared to go off the air.

Swerve Strickland Fined $100,000 Following Dynamite Attack

During the assault, Strickland was heard shouting his motivations to the crowd and the cameras. “I needed this,” Strickland yelled as he stood over the fallen Omega. The attack left an impression on the AEW fans and prompted an immediate response from the promotion’s management.

On the following episode of AEW Collision on February 21, it was announced that AEW officials had fined Strickland $100,000 for his “unprofessional and dangerous” actions on Wednesday night. Additionally, commentary noted that Strickland had been suspended from appearing on the Saturday broadcast as a direct result of the incident.

Taking to social media on Sunday, he posted about how he was unbothered by the punishment. Strickland further elaborated on his mindset by posting an image from a face-to-face confrontation with Omega that took place two weeks prior. The image showed Strickland with his back turned to the “Best Bout Machine,” a moment that apparently solidified his plan for the Sacramento main event.

“This was the moment I knew what I had to do,” Strickland wrote in the caption, indicating that his betrayal of the code of respect was premeditated.

As of February 23, the feud between the two stars is expected to lead to a major rematch at the upcoming AEW Revolution Premium Live Event. The event is scheduled for March 1, 2026, at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California. Current plans for the card include a Texas Death match for the AEW World Championship between MJF and “Hangman” Adam Page, as well as Jon Moxley defending the AEW Continental Championship against Konosuke Takeshita. Omega will be missing this show due to other commitments.
