Taz responds to fan thinking FTW Championship is more like a prop than a real title
Since AEW decided to use the FTW Title on Dynamite, some fans have not recognized the title as being a real championship, but rather something that is associated with Taz.
Some could say that’s justified since Taz created the title while in ECW. During this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Taz cut a passionate promo about how current FTW Champion Brian Cage and Ricky Starks are not booked for Saturday’s AEW Full Gear. He also touted their records and Cage being the #1 ranked wrestler in the men’s rankings.
Taz responded to a few fans after the promo including a fan noting that the title is more like a prop than a real title.
The AEW announcer and manager wrote, “It’s not a secondary title it’s also not a prop. It has legitimate history. Defended on on LIVE ppv’s, & held by more than 1 person. It’s always been a renegade/outlaw championship….still is. It encompasses a “mindset” of “F” that traditional wrestling mindsets w/titles.”
Cage has been the only champion since the title was brought back by Taz to be used over the summer. Originally, the title was introduced to AEW fans as a way to hype Cage vs. AEW World Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley.

Yes… but I debuted it 1998. Hopefully I inspired them to make even more millions 🙄 lol https://t.co/DYbWQ5hsYm

Noooo….has nothing to do with that. At times I did have matches that we deemed “FTW rules” which meant falls count anywhere in the arena https://t.co/xpO8Jxek02
