Heading into Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite, there has been a lot of talk among fans about Jeff Hardy possibly debuting as Tony Khan’s big surprise. Khan stated on Friday that a top wrestler will be debuting against Isiah Kassidy and this person will be signing with the company.
Matt Hardy confirmed on his podcast that Jeff’s WWE non-compete runs for another month and he will not become a free agent until March 10 so that eliminates Jeff as a possibility for Wednesday night.
“Jeff’s no-compete clause runs into March 9,” Matt said. “As of March 10, he will be free to do whatever and then he could negotiate with somebody or work for another big company that has television, whatever it may be. Do I think that Jeff Hardy could end up coming to AEW and teaming up with Matt Hardy again? As they say in the wrestling business, never say never. Anything’s possible. We’re definitely going to be working together and we’ll see if the planets align and we do get the opportunity to become the greatest team in all of space and time once more.”
Matt and Jeff already have some independent bookings lined up for next month. Jeff was released by WWE in December after people in management thought that Jeff was dealing with substance abuse issues. It turned out that Jeff’s drug test results came back clean. Jeff reportedly turned down an offer to return to the company and an offer to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame.
