CM Punk made his return from injury tonight on AEW Collision and his comments at the start of the show did not go unnoticed, especially by The Young Bucks.
For those of you that missed it, Punk cut a promo and said the line, “You know what David Zaslav calls me? One Bill Phil. That’s because I am the one true genuine article in a business full of counterfeit Bucks.” It was obvious to everyone that he was mentioning The Young Bucks without outright mentioning the backstage fight that happened after All Out in September.
The comments caused a stir amongst fans on social media and The Bucks reacted as well. The Bucks in a joking tone posted this on their bio: ‘If it were 2018, we’d already have a “Counterfeit Bucks’ shirt available on PWT. Kill it y’all!”
Of course, Punk’s line will lead to speculation that both sides have talked things out and perhaps this can be turned into an angle at some point. Punk claimed during his ESPN interview that he hasn’t spoken to The Bucks or Kenny Omega because lawyers have gotten involved and prevented that from happening. It’s pro wrestling so time will tell and never say never on all of this becoming an angle at some point.
