There is a big update on the Elite-CM Punk situation on Fightful Select.
You can read more at patreon.com/Fightful. One of the things said in the report was previously unknown to the public in regard to someone who was hurt during the post-All Out backstage brawl.
The report states that there were other talent who were present when the brawl happened. Dave Meltzer previously reported MJF and Chris Jericho, among other names there or in the vicinity of the brawl. One production employee was said to have been struck with a chair during the brawl.
The report also noted that Punk and Omega had a brief conversation in the moments after the brawl happened and Punk reportedly told Omega that the issue wasn’t with him. Those close to Punk stated that Omega was surprisingly composed after the brawl.
On Wrestling Observer Live today, Bryan Alvarez stated that there was a lot of heat in AEW after Punk’s since-deleted Instagram post where he mentioned Chris Jericho and Dave Meltzer in regards to something that Meltzer said about creative issues between Punk and Jon Moxley last August.
At this point, Punk’s status with AEW is still unclear but he is still under contract. Stranger things have happened in wrestling but it seems as if there’s no chance of Punk and The Elite ever working together if Punk returns to AEW.
As for what Punk said on Instagram and who leaked what to the media, Bryan Alvarez addressed that on Wrestling Observer Live (see below).
