The saga regarding Rey Fenix’s situation with AEW continues. The AEW star has not wrestled on AEW programming since the July 20 episode of AEW Collision. Penta El Zero M’s deal has expired with AEW, making him a free agent.
However, AEW is tacking on injury time, which is nearly one year to Fenix’s deal. The belief is that with strong interest from WWE, both Penta and Rey Fenix of the Lucha Bros. will head to WWE when that time comes. The only question is whether Penta will go to WWE before Fenix can legally do so or wait to come in together.
Dr. Chris Featherstone of SportsKeeda, who has broken past stories, noted on Twitter/X that he got info from an AEW source last month but was waiting for one of the Lucha Bros to speak out publicly. After Fenix did that, he felt comfortable sharing the intel.
He stated, “The alleged excuse that Tony Khan found out about Lucha Brothers [being] in talks with WWE is ‘fake news,’ and the real reason [will be] revealed.” There had been a report that Khan only tacked on time to Fenix’s deal once there was the claim that the tag team had talks with WWE while under contract with AEW. Also, there is said to be a “real story” behind the situation with Fenix, which is reportedly a “huge injustice.”
Finally, fans should expect the tag team to speak about the situation when free and clear, believing that once that happens, it’s “going to be ugly.” Fenix commented on the post, calling it the most accurate comment that he’s seen regarding the reports of his status.
Unfortunately, due to contractual issues i cannot speak now, but I will have my time.
