Tommaso Ciampa says he hopes to finish his career in AEW and has teased plans to evolve his character in ways he describes as cool, while asking fans to be patient as those plans develop. Speaking during a virtual signing for K & S WrestleFest, Ciampa reflected positively on his AEW start and hinted at what is coming next.
“So far, I like it a lot,” Ciampa said. “I love the start. There’s a lot of fun things I have in the works and ways to evolve the character and just gotta be patient and let that all play out but we’re on to some good stuff. There’s some really cool plans in the works.”
Ciampa also addressed his long-term future, making clear that AEW is where he sees himself finishing out his in-ring career. “I’m hoping that I get to ride into the sunset with AEW to be honest with you,” Ciampa said. “I really like it there. They treat my family extremely well, and my little one is having a blast.”
Ciampa debuted for AEW in late January after allowing his WWE contract to expire. He made an immediate impact by capturing the TNT Championship in his first match with the company, though his reign lasted just 11 days before Kyle Fletcher defeated him for the title.
Prior to his AEW arrival, Ciampa spent the bulk of the last decade in WWE, where he became one of the top stars of the NXT brand. He held the NXT Championship on multiple occasions and was involved in some of the most talked about storylines in NXT history, including his feud with Johnny Gargano that produced memorable matches.
Ciampa is scheduled to appear on tonight’s edition of AEW Collision Slam Dunk Sunday in a singles match against Lio Rush.
