Tommaso Ciampa has officially arrived in AEW. On the January 28 episode of AEW Dynamite, the former NXT Champion made his debut by confronting Mark Briscoe. The segment immediately established Ciampa’s intentions, as he is set to challenge Briscoe for the AEW TNT Championship on Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision.
In a digital exclusive following his appearance, Ciampa made his goals clear while reviving a moniker from his past.
“Tonight, Tommaso Ciampa became All Elite. Saturday, I become the AEW TNT Champion. The psycho killer is alive!”
The debut comes just days after his departure from WWE was formalized. Ciampa was moved to the alumni section of the WWE roster page on January 27. On January 21, he confirmed that his contract was set to expire and that he would be leaving the promotion. He had been with WWE since 2015, where he won the NXT Championship, NXT Tag Team Championship, and WWE Tag Team Championship.
Prior to his WWE run, Ciampa competed in Ring of Honor, making this a return to a familiar ecosystem now under the AEW banner. In preparation for his post-WWE career, Ciampa recently filed trademarks for “Psycho Killer” and “Psycho King.”
