On the July 16 episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm delivered a uniquely bizarre victory speech from a balcony, celebrating her win over Mercedes Moné at All In: Texas. The champion’s address was ultimately cut short by the arrival of her next challenger, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena, and her protege, Billie Starkz.
Storm began her speech by silencing the crowd with a signature tirade. “Enough of this gay banter,” she started, “this whore you all adore, this slut you can’t rebut, this bitch you want to itch, this skank you want to spank, this trollop you can’t wallop, this tramp is still the champ.”
An Invitation and an Injury
She then turned her attention to her recent opponent, Mercedes Moné. “Mercedes Moné, thank you for going all in with me. We did everything we set out to do,” Storm said. “But in case she forgot, I did say before that if she made one false move, I would eat her alive. Well, darling, you were delicious.” Storm then extended an open invitation for a rematch, stating, “Now, if you want to come back for seconds, and I’m sure you will, then from my lips to yours, this buffet is always open, darling.”
Storm then informed the audience about her butler. “Now I am sad to announce that Luther was injured in the line of duty,” she said somberly. “I can’t tell you what happened, but it requires reattachment surgery.”
The Fallen Goddess Arrives
Before Storm could continue, she was interrupted by the “Fallen Goddess” Athena, who appeared backstage with Billie Starkz. Athena immediately dismissed Storm’s importance. “A Toni, a Toni, that’s not the big one. I am,” Athena declared. “I am the Fallen Goddess, the Minion Overlord, the American Joshi. I am the symbol of fear, prestige and unapologetic power. I am the Forever ROH Champion Athena. And you, you will be the wide-hipped heifer that no one cares to remember, because soon I will be the Forever AEW Women’s World Champion.”
Athena then referenced her protege’s recent actions, seemingly referring to an attack on Storm’s ally, Mina Shirakawa. “Mina decided to step in my company without my permission, and I decided to take her head off with one beautiful O-Face,” Athena proclaimed, before issuing a direct threat to Storm. “It’s time to stop looking for your happy endings, because your demise and your murder are here.”
A Challenge Accepted
Storm, unfazed, delivered a rhyming response from her balcony. “Well, if you are ready, I will be sweaty. If you are willing, I will be thrilling, and if you are able, I will bend you over the table, because I am timeless,” she replied. Following the confrontation, it was announced that Toni Storm will face Athena’s protege, Billie Starkz, in a one-on-one match on next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
Athena earned her right to challenge for the AEW Women’s World Championship by winning the Women’s Casino Gauntlet match at the All In: Texas pay-per-view. Tonight’s segment marks the official start of the rivalry between the two champions. Click here for complete AEW Dynamite results.
