Tony Khan On Adam Cole’s AEW Status: “Hopefully He Will Be Able To Return In Some Capacity”

AEW President Tony Khan has commented on the last-minute decision to pull Adam Cole from his scheduled TBS Championship match at the All In: Texas pay-per-view. Khan confirmed that Cole was not feeling well and that they mutually agreed he needed to take time off.

A Hard Conversation

Cole was originally scheduled to face Kyle Fletcher at the event but was removed from the card just hours before the show. Speaking with Good Karma Wrestling, Khan detailed the conversation he had with the top star that led to the change.

“It was a hard conversation, but I’m glad he told me the truth—that he just didn’t feel well, he was having trouble sleeping, he didn’t feel good, and he was having… just not feeling like it would be a good idea for him to wrestle. And I agreed with that.”

“He Needs Time Off”

Khan explained that it was important for Cole to address the live crowd at Globe Life Field himself to explain the situation. He confirmed that Cole will be taking time away from the ring to recover.

“I knew that it would be the right thing for Adam Cole—and it was what he wanted to do too—to go out and speak to the fans from his heart and explain that he wouldn’t be able to wrestle. Even though we are all sad we don’t get to see Adam Cole wrestle for a while, hopefully he will be able to return in some capacity. But definitely, he needs time off after talking to him.”

Dustin Rhodes ended up winning the vacant title in a fatal 4-way match at All In.
