Tony Khan Addresses Adam Cole’s AEW Status Following Worlds End Appearance

AEW President Tony Khan addressed the status of Adam Cole during the Worlds End post-show media scrum, following a surprise appearance by the former TNT Champion on the Zero Hour pre-show. Cole, who has been sidelined since July 2025 due to severe concussion-related issues, joined the broadcast panel to offer predictions for the Continental Classic tournament.

‘No Particular Update’

During the media scrum, Khan was asked if Cole’s appearance signaled a nearing return to in-ring competition. While Khan expressed his joy at seeing Cole back in an AEW setting, he clarified that there is no official update regarding his medical clearance or a potential return date.

“Well, there’s certainly no pressure. I was just really happy to hear from Adam Cole and I thought the fans would be so happy to see him and obviously, Adam Cole’s been a great champion in AEW and it was important for Adam Cole to step away and prioritize his health and wellbeing. We love him, and he’s a great star here and absolutely, like he said, when he spoke earlier, we want Adam Cole to be involved in AEW, and I don’t have any health updates other than to say you can see he’s doing well and he’s excited about AEW,” Khan said.

Khan brought up the emotional weight of Cole’s last appearance, which took place at All In: Texas earlier this year.

“So with Adam Cole, no particular update other than to say you can see he’s doing well, and since we last heard from him when he had to vacate the TNT Championship at AEW All In Texas. It was a sad moment, it was a hard moment for a lot of the fans and for a lot of us, so we were so happy to hear from him,” Khan added.

A Hopeful 2026

During his appearance on the Zero Hour pre-show, Cole did not confirm a return date but offered a hopeful message to the fanbase. After thanking the fans for their support during his recovery, he hinted at his intentions for the coming year. “Hopefully, you’ll be seeing a lot more of me in 2026,” Cole stated.

Cole also praised his peers while breaking down the Continental Classic semifinals, showing that he has remained engaged with the product despite his absence. Khan noted Cole’s natural ability in a broadcasting role.

“He’s very good. He’s excellent host,” Khan said.

Context of the Injury

Adam Cole has been out of action since July 2025. He was forced to vacate the TNT Championship at All In: Texas after holding the title for 97 days. He was originally scheduled to defend the belt against Kyle Fletcher at the event, but the match was cancelled due to his condition. Reports at the time indicated that the concussion issues were severe enough that retirement was being considered.
