Tony Khan Addresses Ricky Starks’ AEW Status, Scouting Locations For Potential Australia Event

AEW President Tony Khan participated in a media call on Thursday to promote the AEW All In pay-per-view event on Sunday. During the call, two hot topics were addressed.

The first was the topic of an Australian event. The Sporting News reported that the promotion plans to hold a show at a stadium venue in Australia in 2025. Plans have already advanced, as the promotion has scouted venues on the east coast of the country. Venues that have been considered potential host sites include Sydney’s Allianz Stadium, Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, and Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium.

Khan stated that they’re looking at various locations in Australia to run an event sometime next year in 2025, potentially before noting that they will have more information and that 2025 is going to be a milestone year.

AEW hasn’t used Ricky Starks in months, and many expect him to leave AEW and go to WWE when his deal is up. This week, a social media rumor went around that Starks may be a free agent already. Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan has reported “significant interest” within WWE NXT in bringing Starks to the brand whenever he becomes available.

Khan was asked about Ricochet, and he noted that Starks has been a great star for AEW and thinks highly of him. Khan said Starks is a well-regarded wrestler who remains under contract with the promotion.
