WWE has confirmed that they’ll be moving NXT from Wednesday to Tuesday starting on April 13th, which ends the Wednesday Night Wars between them and AEW.
Since late 2019, Dynamite on TNT has been going head-to-head with NXT on the USA Network. This change is due to the NHL moving to the USA Network on Wednesdays when NBCSN shuts down later this year.
AEW President Tony Khan spoke with Pwinsider.com about a wide range of topics and during it, he talked about whether NXT moving to Tuesdays changes anything for AEW.
Khan noted that AEW has stacked shows for not only this week, but next week, which is the first night that they’ll go unopposed as NXT will air on Tuesday. He noted that he has some stories this week that will be very interesting and he hopes it will lead to people checking out the show next week to find out about the follow-up.
“So I think having Mike Tyson on the show this week is a great way to bring some attention to the wrestlers and our big matches and big stories this week and we’re going to have a really strong card the next couple of weeks.
We have a great roster and there’s no reason we shouldn’t have great cards every week. We’ve consistently been doing big matches every Wednesday and I think now’s a great time to pour some gasoline on the whole situation and create a blaze.”
Khan also talked about Shaq’s future, AEW’s first-ever house show, and much more. Check out the full interview here.
