Tony Khan Explains Why He’s Not Surprised to Hear Fans Boo CM Punk

Tony Khan appeared on Busted Open Radio on Wednesday prior to AEW Dynamite. Khan was asked about Dynamite plans, CM Punk, Sting, Chris Jericho and other topics.

Khan was asked if he was surprised that CM Punk got booed at Forbidden Door:

“I wasn’t surprised about that at all given that we were in Canada and given some of the things that had happened in the lead up to the show and in particular since the last time he wrestled, so I think as we go on the road, we are going to get a lot of great responses, but just like a sports team, it depends on where you’re at. Some sports teams are really popular in home cities, and then when they go on the road, it depends, and definitely I thought this was a road game for him. He did great.”

If he thinks there will be a Sting vs Chris Jericho match (this interview was taped prior to Dynamite):

“At some point, they could go one on one, but let’s be excited about tonight because tonight on Wednesday Night Dynamite on TBS, this will be the first time that Chris Jericho and Sting have ever wrestled each other, and that is tonight, and it’s part of a Tornado Tag Match which is going to be wild to have Jericho and Sammy vs Sting and Darby on TBS tonight on Wednesday Night Dynamite. It’s going to be crazy, so you do get to see Sting vs Jericho tonight. I think not only are you going to see those guys fight it out, but you get to see one of the longest standing rivalries in AEW, two of the young, great stars who have been with us from the very beginning, Sammy Guevera and Darby Allin as part of this great Tornado Tag Match on TBS.”
