Sasha Banks, real name Mercedes Varnado, is reportedly slated to work some dates for NJPW in 2023 and is expected to be at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 event on January 4.
Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter will team up to take on Saraya and a partner of her choosing on the January 11 edition of AEW Dynamite.
There has been a lot of speculation that Banks could be AEW-bound as the promotion has a working relationship with NJPW and be revealed as the mystery partner for Saraya.
While speaking in a new interview with Grapsody for Fightful, Khan was asked about Banks potentially being Saraya’s partner. It should be noted that Khan isn’t allowed to hint at anything about Banks until she’s legally free from her non-compete that she signed to get out of her WWE deal early on January 1.
“Not at this time. I don’t think it would behoove me right now. Well, in January, you’re definitely going to find out who it is. You will know in January, but right now is probably not something that serves my interests well. To quote Gerri Kellman from Succession, ‘How does it serve my interests?’ [laughter].”
