Tony Khan Had A Private Meeting With Shane McMahon To Discuss “Possibilities Moving Forward”

In recent weeks, much has been talked about Shane McMahon becoming All Elite and whether it could actually happen.

This talk started when Jim Ross discussed the idea of Shane joining AEW on his Grilling JR podcast during a Q&A, causing speculation about this potentially happening. JR stated that McMahon in the promotion would be so crazy that it just might work, and the following week, Ross’ co-host, Conrad Thompson, said he heard from a friend who told him that it’s not as far-fetched as people think, as Shane has reached out for hypothetical interest.

Dave Meltzer reported that on the AEW side, people who, in theory, should know have either heard nothing or only heard what Thompson said. One source stated the idea came about during a conversation with a former WWE star in AEW, and it wasn’t serious, which would explain why the key folks in AEW wouldn’t have heard about it.

Mercedes Mone and McMahon later ran into each other at the airport shortly after this came out, something she confirmed in her weekly newsletter. Tony Khan has said in past interviews that McMahon was “welcome to stop by at any time” and “seems like a really nice guy.”

WrestleTalk and Fightful reported today that Khan and McMahon had a private meeting on Monday at a private Arlington airport, during which the two sides discussed “possibilities moving forward.”

Fightful noted that Khan had been “open” to talking with McMahon for a while. However, it was believed they had never talked or spoken before the rumors about McMahon possibly going to AEW came out recently.

The AEW President is said to have been “very open” to “using” McMahon for several weeks now and made it clear that he was open to the idea of talking to McMahon when folks backstage have brought it up.
