Tony Khan Has Made A Change Behind-The-Scenes In AEW

A new report has revealed a significant change in the backstage production process in All Elite Wrestling. According to Bryan Alvarez of F4Wonline.com, AEW President Tony Khan has implemented more traditional, formal production meetings before television tapings.

AEW Now Holding ‘Actual Production Meetings’

Alvarez reported on his X subscriber account and on Wrestling Observer Live that a change has been made to AEW’s pre-show preparations. “Tony Khan has been doing actual production meetings for awhile now, getting the top agents, announcers, etc., all in a room together to go over things before the shows,” Alvarez stated. The report notes that this change was made several months ago.

A Shift From Khan’s Previous Method

This new structure is a departure from Khan’s previous method, which Alvarez described as a series of individual meetings. “Tony (Khan’s) production meeting was, well, I go and I meet with these guys and then I go meet with these guys… He just did these meetings throughout the day and that was what he considered production meetings,” Alvarez explained. “Other people were like, that’s not a production meeting. So the point of this is, of late, he actually is now doing production meetings.”

This reported change in backstage structure comes as AEW heads into a busy period of major shows. The company is currently building towards its next pay-per-view, the annual AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door crossover event, which is scheduled for August 24 in London, England.
