Tony Khan: ‘I’m Obsessed With Collision Being A Great Wrestling Show That The Wrestling Fans Love’

Tony Khan has opened up about his distinct approach to booking AEW Collision compared to the company’s flagship show, Dynamite. In a recent interview, the AEW President explained that while Dynamite requires meticulous attention to timing and segments, he allows Collision to breathe differently, prioritizing the quality of the in-ring action over strict formatting.

“There are things that I do on Collision that I think are excellent wrestling, and I’m not as obsessed with the minute-by-minute… I’m obsessed with Collision being a great wrestling show that the wrestling fans love,” Khan told Q101 in Chicago.

Khan addressed a common perception among some fans that watching only Dynamite is sufficient to keep up with the product. He pushed back against this idea, arguing that skipping Collision means missing out on significant content.

“I don’t want there to ever be a perception like, even though I know some fans think that, ‘Oh, I can watch Dynamite and I’ll get everything.’ That’s not the case. A lot of the best stuff is on Collision,” Khan said.

He went on to note that he had a hope that the fanbase would become evangelists for the Saturday night program, using a unique metaphor to describe his desire for the show’s popularity to grow.

“And I want the wrestling fans to spread the virus like I have. I hope for Collision, people spread that virus with it and say, ‘I love wrestling and you should watch this because they put so much great wrestling on.’”
