Tony Khan On AEW’s Negotiations With WBD For A New TV Deal: We’re In Very Deep, Exciting Conversations

AEW’s TV rights deal continues to be a hot topic among fans as it expires with Warner Bros. Discovery at the end of this year.

This week, it was reported that an agreement has been tentatively reached, and things could change as they enter final talks. The deal would also bring AEW content, including pay-per-views, to the MAX streaming platform.

It was later reported that a deal has yet to be reached, and sources close to WBD say there is nothing “imminent,” meaning over the next few days. Tony Khan and David Zaslav are both scheduled to be in Paris for the Olympics, and they plan to meet—something that has been planned for months.

While speaking on the Battleground podcast, the AEW President discussed the current talks. Khan noted, “We’re in very deep, exciting conversations. There’s a lot to figure out because we have these great shows with AEW Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision.”

Khan continued, “Our primetime shows…we’ve been doing great, great ratings with our flagship shows. And it’s a really exciting time. Like I said, this past week both shows did their biggest numbers in months. So it’s an exciting time for us to hit new highs. The conversations are awesome right now. There’s a lot to figure out with the AEW TV shows, our pay-per-view content, our streaming library, and all of these things. So it’s a lot of very complex conversations, but they’ve been great. And we’re having great talks with Warner Bros. Discovery now. And it’s a great partnership, and we’re very fortunate to be here, and it’s a great place, for wrestling in particular, TBS and TNT.”
