AEW Owner/President Tony Khan took questions from the media today ahead of Sunday’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view.
When asked about Darby Allin, Khan said that he called Darby Allin to see how he was doing and Darby told him that he would like to take the spot in the Anarchy in the Arena match that was vacated by Eddie Kingston.
Khan talked about why they’re running the MGM Grand instead of the T-Mobile Arena. As for being an on-screen character (Khan appeared last night on Dynamite as the person who drove Darby to the arena), Khan said that he wants the focus of the shows to be on the talent.
On Mark Henry’s AEW contract expiring, Khan said he liked Henry as a media personality and they would have to look at things internally. He also talked about the respect he has for Henry.
The residency coming up in Texas for Collision shows was a great deal for AEW and it could lead to more, based on how they do.
Khan didn’t give a direct answer on the decision to move All Out to a later date but said he wanted it to be a better experience for fans after ALL IN. He did mention that there’s more competition on Labor Day.
