AEW President Tony Khan has released a video previewing the card for the first Dynamite of 2026, which airs Wednesday night on TBS and HBO Max. The broadcast will feature a “Lights Out” tag team match and the return of Jim Ross to the commentary team.
In the video, filmed from Las Vegas, Khan noted that Sports Illustrated voted AEW the “Best Wrestling Promotion in the World” for 2025, with the company winning 10 awards in total. He’s in the city for tonight’s SI Awards.
Confirmed Lineup
The following matches and segments were discussed for the January 7 episode:
- Lights Out Match: Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland will team up to face “The Opps” (Hook and Powerhouse Hobbs). Khan noted this is the first time Page and Strickland have competed as a team in a match with this stipulation.
- Jim Ross Returns: The WWE Hall of Famer will join the broadcast booth for the show, which takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
- Continental Championship Eliminator: Champion Jon Moxley is scheduled to face Shelton Benjamin. This marks the first one-on-one meeting between the two in AEW.
- AEW World Championship Implications: Sammy Guevara will face ROH World Champion Bandido. Bandido is currently scheduled to challenge MJF for the AEW World Championship next week at Maximum Carnage, but Guevara intends to take that spot.
- TBS Championship Celebration: A segment will be held for the new TBS Champion, Willow Nightingale, who won the title on New Year’s Eve. Nightingale is now a double champion, also holding the Women’s World Tag Team Championship.
- Timeless Toni Storm vs. Marina Shafir: Tony Khan confirmed this singles match, noting Storm’s recent recognition by Sports Illustrated.
- Trios Match: Jungle Jack Perry and Jet Speed are scheduled to face National Champion Ricochet and “The GOA.” Khan mentioned a “bounty” on Jet Speed that was split between Don Callis and Ricochet following events on Collision.
