Tony Khan provides injury updates on two AEW stars

We noted earlier on the site that Fenix and Britt Baker were injured on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT.

Regarding Fenix, he went for a dive off the top rope to the floor and landed on some wrestlers who were supposed to catch him but he landed short and crashed down hard.

He was slated to work the Casino Ladder Match to crown a new #1 contender to the AEW World Heavyweight Title at Double or Nothing. However, AEW pulled him and replaced him with Joey Janela.

The other injury was Britt Baker, who worked a tag team match by teaming up with Nyla Rose to take on Hikaru Shida & Kris Statlander on the show. The injury happened when Rose was thrown by Shida and Statlander onto Baker, who was seen holding her knee.

Baker was pulled from her bout against Kris Statlander at Double or Nothing and replaced by Penelope Ford. It was announced at Double or Nothing that she suffered a partial LCL tear, an interior tibia fracture, and a small tendon tear.

During the post-Double or Nothing media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan provided updates on these two stars.

“Britt will be out probably, we think, six weeks maybe. I think less than two months ballpark is a good estimate. She’ll be addressing her medical situation on Wednesday on Dynamite.”

“Fenix, it was close. He’s limping. I don’t think he would’ve been able to give 100% and also it wouldn’t have been smart to put him out there in that situation. We made a judgment call. I think he’ll be back soon. He’s done and I really appreciate him.”
