Tony Khan Responds To Kevin Nash’s Criticism of Will Ospreay and Comparing The Elite’s Attack Angle To WCW’s Fingerpoke Of Doom

AEW CEO Tony Khan got a lot of buzz last week after he was attacked by The Elite last Wednesday on AEW Dynamite. Khan is working from Jacksonville, Florida and it was announced during Collision that he won’t be traveling until he is cleared. Khan talked about the angle during an interview with Josh Martinez for New York’s Z100.

Khan was asked about Kevin Nash, who has been critical of some of the things he’s seen on AEW TV. Recently Khan compared the end of last Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite (The Elite’s attack on Khan) to WCW’s Fingerpoint of Doom.

Nash was critical of booking Perry to attack Khan with a “padded microphone” and said that he didn’t see how it made sense unless Khan returned and fired the Executive Vice President’s for attacking him. Nash noted how Khan “got rid” of Punk for the incident with Perry and the only direction he could go is to fire The Young Bucks and Perry.

Nash was also critical of Will Ospreay for responding to Triple H during a promo on Dynamite. Nash said on his podcast, “If you got the balls to fu**ing take a shot at the fu**ing boss’s wife and then you got you got the balls to fu**ing show up and ask for a fu**ing job, he better fu**ing be able to have the balls to take whatever he’s gonna dish.”

Nash added, “Everything’s a work. Is he an exceptional talent for that style? Absolutely. Is there a place for him in this fu**ing business for Will? Absolutely. Paul didn’t mention him by name, therefore there’s no reason to get ass hurt. It shows why he’s an indie-rific guy. It shows why he didn’t make the move. He’s not smart to the business. Jade was. Jade was smart. Look at Jade.”

Nash also had this to say about Ospreay: “I watched a little bit of Smackdown and I watched AJ and it’s like Ospreay needs to get in better shape — everybody looks like indie guys because no one looks like they take care of themselves. He just turned 30. Yeah come on, man.”

Khan responded to Nash today: “I think Kevin Nash was a great wrestler. His opinions on wrestling I’m not sure I agree with them. He’s had some takes on Will Ospreay that I definitely don’t agree with. I’d be remiss if I don’t bring that up. I think Will Ospreay is one of the best young wrestlers in the world. We’re really fortunate to have Will Ospreay in AEW. He’s been coming in week in and week out and working so hard, having great matches. Both pay-per-views he’s been on he’s had these classic matches against Takeshita at AEW Revolution and against Bryan Danielson over a week ago at AEW Dynasty. I think Will Ospreay is so phenomenal. I’ve heard criticisms from Kevin that I don’t necessarily agree with about Will. Some of his opinions about current wrestling I just don’t agree with. I wish him the best and all the respect in the world to him.”

Tomorrow night on Dynamite, the next chapter in the storyline will play out and it’s expected that there will be a high-ranking official announced to combat The Elite.
