Tony Khan: Running AEW During NFL Draft Week Was Like The Boy Meets World Episode Where Corey Is Both With The Wrestling Show And Trying To Date Topanga

2024 is a big year for AEW as they are expecting to sign a new TV deal sometime within the next few months.

AEW CEO/GM Tony Khan appeared on The Rich Eisen Show to talk about AEW’s relationship with Warner Bros. Discovery, the storyline with The Elite, Jack Perry, AEW’s growth and more.

Khan said wearing the neck brace is like “Our Andy Kaufman moment.” He also talked about Jack Perry re-establishing himself while he was “on loan” to New Japan Pro Wrestling but then Perry punched him in the stomach and he was attacked by Matt and Nick Jackson.

Khan said, “NFL Films was following me around in the neckbrace while I ran back and forth like a speed dating episode. Like the Boy Meets World episode where Corey is both with the wrestling show and trying to date Topanga. It was like that. I was doing the undrafted free agency and going back and forth with AEW Collision, which was live after the NBA Playoffs. It was one of those crazy things. Of course, they asked us to go on early because the Celtics-Heat game was a blowout and they asked us to start 10 minutes early. That was of all the days, Draft Saturday while I’m doing undrafted free agency. I had to run back over to Daily’s Place and start the show. It was something. NFL Films shot the whole thing.”

Khan said we’ll see the footage “hopefully soon.” Click below to watch the entire interview.
