Tony Khan talks about plans for new AEW titles, live events to air for free, a wrestler-friendly schedule and much more

Stone Cold Steve Austin’s podcast is back and his first guest for his return episode is All Elite Wrestling co-founder Tony Khan.

Here are some notes from the podcast:

Austin said that there will be one “live” (new) episode of the podcast every Tuesday and a classic episode on Thursday.

Austin gave heavy praise to Tony Khan for the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view. Khan said that the goal was to put on one of the greatest wrestling pay-per-views of all time and he thinks they achieved that.

Khan noted how the company will put a heavy focus on tag team wrestling and there will be a tag team tournament starting when the AEW weekly TV show begins. The winning team will be the first AEW Tag Team Champions. Khan also said that there are plans to introduce AEW Women’s Tag Team Titles.

Austin talked about his interview with Jon Moxley from a few years ago on the WWE Network and said that things fell apart and it has bothered him but he recently reconnected with Moxley and everything is cool. Moxley will be a guest on a future podcast whenever he’s in Los Angeles.

Khan talked about not wanting to have wrestlers on the road full-time and estimated that they would run somewhere between 100-120 shows per year. He also does not want to have wrestlers on every show because he wants to give their bodies time to rest. There will be no off-season but the schedule will be very wrestler-friendly. Khan said he doesn’t want wrestlers to be on the road 5 days per week. He also said that someone like Dr. Britt Baker will still be able to continue her work as a doctor while still working for AEW and wrestlers will be allowed to take international and some independent dates.

When asked by Austin, Khan said that he does believe this is a sustainable business model. He also said that he doesn’t want to rely on house shows if they don’t make business sense.

Khan confirmed that there will be some free shows on Bleacher Report Live. Fight For The Fallen and Fyter Fest will be free on that platform.

It’s a very good podcast. You can listen via your favorite podcast app on your mobile device or just click here.
