AEW President Tony Khan responded to a social media post today (scroll down to see the post) involving artificial intelligence and his ongoing rivalry with WWE. NoDQ.com’s Aaron Rift prompted the AI chatbot Grok to “remove the worst wrestling booker” from an image featuring Khan and WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.
The AI processed the request by erasing Triple H from the photo, leaving only Khan. Khan quote-tweeted the result with the message: “Thank you @Grok! #AEWCollision #AEWDynamite.”
What is Grok and Why is it Trending?
Grok is a generative artificial intelligence chatbot developed by xAI, a company owned by Elon Musk. It is integrated directly into the X platform for premium subscribers. Unlike other major AI models like ChatGPT or Gemini, Grok is marketed as having a “rebellious streak” and fewer inhibitions regarding “spicy” or controversial requests.
The AI has garnered significant attention this week following the rollout of new image editing capabilities that allow users to modify photos via text prompts (e.g., “remove object,” “change outfit”). While the feature has been used for memes—such as the one shared by Khan—it has also sparked controversy this week due to reports of users utilizing the tool to generate non-consensual deepfake content.
A History of Hostility
Khan’s interaction with the post is the latest public exchange in a years-long feud between the two executives.
- “Pissant Company” (2019): During the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Triple H referred to AEW as a “pissant company” during a speech by D-Generation X. The comment was made in response to Billy Gunn playfully joking that Vince McMahon could not fire him.
- “Harvey Weinstein of Pro Wrestling” (2024): In April 2024, Khan made headlines during an NFL Network appearance promoting the NFL Draft. When discussing the competition between the two promotions, Khan compared WWE to Harvey Weinstein, stating, “we’re up against a really evil juggernaut… WWE is like the Harvey Weinstein of pro wrestling.”
The AI’s output reflects a debate regarding the creative direction of both companies throughout 2025. Critics of WWE’s product in 2025 notably described the booking as “homogenized” or “safe” under Triple H’s leadership, despite the company’s commercial success.
In contrast, Khan has publicly discussed his efforts to tighten creative control over AEW. In a December 2025 interview, Khan stated he had been “too collaborative” during 2023 and 2024. He noted that ahead of 2025, he returned to writing show outlines individually without committee meetings, a shift he credits for what he views as a creative improvement in AEW programming over the last year.
