AEW announcer Tony Schiavone has provided an update on the condition of Harley Cameron, who recently suffered a broken nose. Speaking on his What Happened When podcast, Schiavone confirmed the injury was significant and that she has undergone procedures to repair the damage. Cameron has also posted about the injury on her social media accounts.
The injury was incorporated into a storyline on the May 28th episode of AEW Dynamite, where Megan Bayne dropped her onto the steel steps at ringside during a No Disqualification tag team match. Schiavone, who is close friends with Cameron, described seeing a post-surgery photo and the severity of the injury.
“She sent me a picture, and it’s… she’s suffered quite… she’s had a lot of work done, and her face was all swollen,” Schiavone said. (Note: scroll down to see the graphic photo).
Despite the brutal injury, he had high praise for Cameron’s attitude and talent, and expressed his hope that she makes a quick return to AEW programming. “I’ve stayed in touch with her, because, as you know… she is just a wonderful young lady, truly one of my favorites,” he stated. “There’s a lot to like about Harley, and I hope she gets back very, very soon. She’s multi-talented. She’s got a great attitude.”
Schiavone also noted how dangerous women’s wrestling has become, pointing to the evolution of the style. “I’m telling you, women’s wrestling can be really rough,” he said.
As of today, there is no official timeline for Harley Cameron’s return to the ring. In her absence, her former tag team partner Anna Jay has reunited with Tay Melo.
