Top AEW Star Has Changed His Name

AEW star Adam Copeland made his return to in-ring action on Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite, marking his first match since suffering a fractured tibia at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view in May.

During his entrance, Copeland was introduced with a shortened ring name, now being billed simply as “The Rated R Superstar” Cope. The announce team confirmed the change, stating that the wrestler had decided to shorten his name.

Copeland’s injury occurred during the main event of Double or Nothing on May 26th, where he successfully defended the TNT Championship against Malakai Black in a barbed wire steel cage match. He sustained the fracture while performing a high-risk maneuver off the top of the cage. The injury required surgery and sidelined him for over six months.

While his in-ring return took place tonight, Copeland made a surprise appearance at this past Saturday’s Worlds End pay-per-view.

Tonight’s Dynamite main event featured Cope and FTR against The Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta). Thanks to interference from Jay White, Cope got the pin on Yuta to win the match for his team after the trio hit a combo Shatter Machine and spear.
