Hikaru Shida has been a dominant star in the AEW women’s division over the last year.
Shida won the AEW Women’s Title from Nyla Rose in a No DQ match at last year’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view event. Fans have picked up on a milestone that Shida has reached, which is being the champion for 365 days.
Thus, this makes her the longest-reigning AEW Women’s Champion in the short history of the promotion thus far. Riho became the inaugural champion in October 2019 and held the strap for 133 days before dropping it to Rose, who held it for 101 days.
She will defend the title against Dr. Britt Baker at the upcoming Double or Nothing pay-per-view event next Sunday in Jacksonville, Florida at Daily’s Place.
