Bobby Fish made his AEW debut in a match against TNT Champion Sammy Guevara on this past Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite.
Fish ended up losing the match and Guevara retained his title. This match was set up when Fish issued a challenge to Guevara last week on social media and Guevara accepted it.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the reason AEW didn’t announce Fish had signed a full-time deal until after the match was due to them wanting to position it as an outsider coming and trying to win instead of a guy under contract and a regular match being made.
Meltzer also noted that Fish coming into the promotion “was recommended and largely put together by The Young Bucks.”
While with WWE, he found success as a member of The Undisputed Era faction and held the NXT Tag Team Titles several times. Back in August, Fish was released by WWE due to budget cuts.
