It appears that AEW will be losing out on two of its stars who have had a big impact on the tag team division in the promotion, with WWE picking up two new wrestlers.
Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix are said to have interest from WWE when their deals expire. While in AEW, TNA, MLW, and CMLL, they’ve found success as the Lucha Bros.
Bryan Alvarez of F4Wonline reports that AEW internally believes both stars will leave the company for WWE once they are free and clear of their AEW deals. WrestlePurists first reported on Monday that the two were expected to leave. It was added that the Trios Championship match set for All In for later this month involving the team has since been changed.
In June, LuchaLibre Online reported Penta’s contract was set to expire between August and September, with him expected to get interest from WWE. Fightful had reported last month that Fenix’s contract was also coming up this year.
Going back to AEW’s first show in 2019, The Lucha Brothers have been part of AEW. This is where they lost to The Young Bucks at the very first Double or Nothing. In addition to a Tag Team Title run, they’ve held the AEW World Trios titles once with PAC.
