Two AEW wrestlers tested positive for COVID-19, planned Dynamite match nixed

AEW built Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite from Milwaukee, WI at the UWM Panther Arena on TNT around an appearance by CM Punk and continuing the build for the All Out pay-per-view event.

Some fans thought the show was weaker than what the promotion usually offers on its flagship show. Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there were several changes made for the Dynamite show this week.

This includes a match that wasn’t advertised but planned for it that would’ve been announced shortly before the show went live. Per the report, it had to be changed or pulled because two people in the match tested positive for COVID-19.

Meltzer noted that neither had any symptoms. The wrestlers are fully vaccinated but AEW found out about the positive tests before the match was to be announced. “That was one of the reasons for the weaker lineup than usual,” Meltzer wrote.

AEW has loaded up the card for next week’s Dynamite, which will serve as the go-home show for All Out.
