Two NJPW stars leaving, likely headed to AEW

Two NJPW stars Trent Baretta and Chuckie T are wrapping up their commitments with the promotion, according to Dave Meltzer on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. They will be finished with New Japan Pro wrestling after they complete their scheduled shows on the New Beginning USA Tour.

It was noted by Meltzer that NJPW offered Baretta a contract with a big push and booking dates guaranteed throughout the year. The NJPW star had talked with officials from the promotion before making the decision to leave where he told them he would agree to a new deal. However, things changed, and he’s now backing off from the deal as he is on his way out.

Although Meltzer speculates that AEW is a likely alternative for their next landing spot because of their good relationships with The Elite, we heard from a source that AEW is where they are likely going.

The current talent roster of All Elite Wrestling is expected to grow in the coming months heading into their first event, Double or Nothing, that is set to take place May 25th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada
