Most fans know by now that All Elite Wrestling will begin airing on TNT this Fall but there is still no word yet on which night of the week.
There’s a small update on this in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The date is not finalized but the word is that it’s 100 percent that the show will air on Tuesday or Wednesday nights. This is not a secret because it’s been rumored for a while but it has not been said officially until now.
Wednesday night is the most likely night but nothing is being confirmed right now because there are some decisions that TNT has to make. This also affects their international TV deal announcements because they can’t announce anything until they can figure out what night of the week their shows will air in the United States. The reason why Tuesday night is a less likely fit is that TNT airs NBA games on that night so that would mean that AEW would need to be pre-empted on some weeks or moved to a different day for a few weeks.
It will be a live show and 2 hours every week with no offseason and they plan on going to a different city every week. On Steve Austin’s podcast, Tony Khan noted that the AEW Tag Team Title tournament will kick off on the weekly AEW show. The plan is not to have the same wrestlers featured every week so fans won’t get tired of seeing them. The company plans on doing somewhere around 100-120 live events per year with wrestlers getting much more time off than they would in WWE.
