Will Ospreay Calls For AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2025 Match With Old Rival

With AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 approaching, Will Ospreay is already thinking about potential dream matches for the cross-promotional supershow. Speaking to the Daily Star, Ospreay named several intriguing possibilities drawing from his NJPW history and current buzz.

“There’s one match in particular that’s like in my brain, and it’s only because of the history behind the Forbidden Door pay-per-view,” Ospreay began, highlighting his deep connection to both promotions. “It’s like two months off, but 10 years ago, I wrestled [Kazuchika] Okada in Reading… the first time I ever wrestled him, and I’d like to revisit that.” He noted their lopsided record (claiming Okada has 9 wins to his 2) as motivation.

Another NJPW rivalry he’d like to bring to a massive stage is with Zack Sabre Jr. “Obviously… a classic one would be me and Zach [ZSJ],” he stated. “To do it at such a giant facility, where all of our matches have been in, like, either Japanese arenas or very intimate [UK venues].”

Looking at current heated rivalries, Ospreay targeted NJPW’s Gabe Kidd. “Something that obviously has been really intriguing a lot recently is me and Gabe Kidd,” Ospreay said. “The animosity that we both bring, I think we would need a sensor button constantly… that is definitely like a South versus North thing.” Ultimately, Ospreay is “open to anything and everything” for a major Forbidden Door match.
