Exclusive: Will Ospreay Explains Why He Respects Kenny Omega But Still Thinks “He’s A Prick”

Will Ospreay gave his thoughts on what Kenny Omega means to AEW behind the scenes, stating that he respects his accomplishments professionally:

“I think he represents the identity of what AEW initially was. He didn’t need the machine to make himself a big superstar, he made himself a star along with The Bucks, along with Hangman, and everyone else that helped to set up the company. There was an identity about AEW that was different to what American TV was accustomed to.

Those guys really set the bar for what wrestling could look like. It could have a different image and it could have a different identity. Especially when it comes to TV-style wrestling. Those guys completely shifted what it looked like to be TV wrestlers. He’s one of the best and I give him all the flowers in the world, but that doesn’t mean I like him [laughs]. Other than that, he’s a pr—k.”

Exclusive: Will Ospreay Looks Back On Unique Match With Top WWE Star; Open To A Rematch “Any Day Of The Week”

Back in 2017, Will Ospreay competed for British promotion WCPW against Drew Galloway, now known as Drew McIntyre in WWE. In the interview, Ospreay explained why the match was so unique and that he would be open to running it back any time:

“I remember it super fondly. I have nothing but love for Drew and I hope he’s doing well. I haven’t kept in contact with him but I keep up with his work, and hope the same is mutual. If there was ever a chance to throw down I’d happily do it again. I think it was different as well because I had to work as a bad guy.

That’s such a different thing for people because obviously when you see my aerial offence it is something that you can’t help but cheer. I had to pick those moments very well with those types of matches, and I had to really dictate the pace of that match so that when I did explode in my aerial offence, it was more out of desperation rather than to get a pop from the audience. It wasn’t difficult to put together because we’d wrestled each other beforehand, but I think it was more along the lines of we wanted to tell a bigger story within that building as well. “So it was great, I flipping love wrestling with Drew and I’d happily do it any day of the week.”
