WWE Files Trademark For “Blake Monroe”

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May has officially been given a new name in WWE NXT.

After her surprise debut last week, during which she was only referred to by her nickname, “The Glamour,” this week’s episode of NXT featured a vignette officially introducing her to WWE fans. A video package styled like an old Hollywood newsreel revealed that she will now be known as Blake Monroe.

The segment heavily promoted Monroe’s “Glamour” persona before revealing the new name. Monroe made her first appearance on the June 3rd edition of NXT, confronting NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne. It was announced that Monroe would sign her official NXT contract on next week’s episode.

WWE has applied for the trademark rights to the name. The company filed for it on June 11 under the entertainment services classification with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Here is the description for the trademark:

“Entertainment services, a show about sports, entertainment and general interest; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media; entertainment services, namely on-going reality based programs; providing entertainment and sports news and information via a global computer network or commercial online service; entertainment services, namely, provision of information and news about sports, entertainment and general interest; providing a website in the field of sports, entertainment and general interest; production of multimedia programs; providing online photos and videos featuring sports and entertainment.”
